Before you pay
Every payment channel asks for the same thing: your 14-digit reference number. Run a bill check first so you know the exact payable amount and the due date, and download the duplicate bill PDF if you plan to pay over a counter.
Paying after the due date triggers the late payment surcharge on the whole amount, so a payment made on the due date itself through a bank app is safer than a counter payment the next morning.
Payment channels compared
Posting time is how long LESCO takes to record the payment against your reference number. Until it posts, an online bill check will still show the bill as unpaid — this is normal and not a sign the payment failed.
| Channel | How it works | Typical posting |
|---|---|---|
| Bank mobile app | Bill payment → electricity → LESCO → enter reference | Same day to 24 hours |
| Internet banking | Same flow from a desktop browser | Same day to 24 hours |
| ATM | Bill payment menu → LESCO → enter reference | 24 hours |
| JazzCash / Easypaisa | Bill payment → electricity → LESCO | 24–48 hours |
| NayaPay / SadaPay and similar | Bill payment section, same reference number | 24–48 hours |
| 1Link member bank branch | Hand over the printed or duplicate bill at the counter | Same day if before cut-off |
| Post office / designated counters | Cash payment against the printed bill | 1–3 working days |
Paying through a bank app, step by step
- Open bill payments. In your banking app choose Payments, then Bill Payment or Utility.
- Select the company. Pick Electricity, then LESCO from the company list.
- Enter the reference. Type your 14-digit reference number exactly as printed.
- Verify the name and amount. The app fetches the consumer name and payable amount from the billing system — confirm both match your bill.
- Confirm and save the receipt. Authorise the payment and screenshot or download the transaction receipt with its ID.
Proof of payment and what to keep
- Transaction ID or reference from the app, ATM slip, or stamped counter copy of the bill.
- The date and time of payment — critical if a late surcharge is wrongly applied.
- The exact amount paid, in case a partial payment leaves a balance.
- Keep records for at least 12 months; disputes are far easier to resolve with a receipt.
Troubleshooting a payment that has not posted
Wait 48 working hours first. If the bill still shows unpaid after that, contact your bank or wallet provider with the transaction ID and ask them to confirm the payment reached the 1Link biller. Once confirmed, register a LESCO complaint with the receipt attached.
Never pay twice in the same billing cycle just because the portal has not updated. Duplicate payments are eventually adjusted as an advance against the next bill, but recovering them takes weeks.
Helpful tips
- Set a recurring reminder three days before your usual due date.
- Register for SMS alerts so you know the payable amount as soon as the bill is issued.
- Pay early in the day — some counters and banks have an afternoon cut-off for same-day posting.
Warnings & common mistakes
- Only pay through recognised banks, wallets or 1Link counters — never to a personal account of an agent.
- Confirm the consumer name shown by the app before authorising; a mistyped digit can pay someone else's bill.
- A payment made after the due date still attracts the surcharge even if it posts on the same day.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take for a LESCO bill payment to show as paid?
Bank and ATM payments usually post within 24 hours; mobile wallet payments can take 24–48 working hours. Until then an online bill check will still display the bill as unpaid.
Can I pay a LESCO bill after the due date?
Yes, but the after-due-date amount applies, which includes the late payment surcharge. Prolonged non-payment can lead to disconnection and a reconnection fee.
Can I pay a LESCO bill from another city or country?
Yes. Any Pakistani bank app, internet banking portal or mobile wallet can pay against the 14-digit reference number regardless of where you are.
What if I paid twice by mistake?
The extra amount is normally adjusted as an advance against your next bill. If it is not, file a billing complaint with both transaction receipts.
Do I need the printed bill to pay?
Only for counter payments. Online channels need just the reference number, though you can download the duplicate bill PDF at any time.
