The quick way to confirm a payment
LESCO does not run a separate 'payment status' website. The status of your bill is shown on the bill record itself, which is linked to your 14-digit reference number. When you look up your bill, a posted payment appears in the payment details for that month, and the following month's bill shows no arrears carried forward.
So the fastest check is simply to look up the bill with your reference number and read the payment section. If you see the amount and payment date recorded, LESCO has received the money. If it still shows the amount as payable after the due date, the payment has either not posted yet or has not reached LESCO.
- Find your reference number. It is the 14-digit number printed near the top of any LESCO bill.
- Look up the bill. Enter the number in the bill check box on our homepage or on the official PITC bill portal.
- Read the payment details. Check the payment date and amount for the current month. Compare it with your receipt.
- Check the next bill. When the next bill is issued, the arrears line should be zero if the previous payment was received.
How long each payment method takes to show
Payments do not appear instantly. The bank or wallet collects the money, then sends it to LESCO through the clearing system, and only then is the bill record updated. A bill paid today can therefore look unpaid for a day or two without anything being wrong.
| Payment method | Usually shows as paid | Keep as proof |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile banking app / internet banking | Within 24–48 working hours | Transaction ID or screenshot |
| JazzCash / Easypaisa | Within 24–48 working hours | SMS confirmation with transaction ID |
| ATM bill payment | Within 24–48 working hours | ATM slip |
| Bank branch counter | 1–2 working days | Stamped bill counterfoil |
| Post office | Up to a few working days | Stamped counterfoil |
What to do if a payment is missing
If several working days have passed and the bill still shows unpaid, first confirm with your bank or wallet that the transaction was successful and not reversed. Then register a billing complaint with LESCO, quoting your reference number, the payment date, the amount and the transaction ID. Attach a photo of the receipt or counterfoil if you are using the online complaint portal.
Keep your proof of payment until the next bill arrives with zero arrears. If a payment was genuinely received late because of a bank delay, LESCO can reverse any late payment surcharge once the payment record is traced.
- Check the reference number on your receipt matches your bill exactly — a single wrong digit sends the money to another account.
- Confirm that the full amount was paid; a partial payment leaves the balance showing as arrears.
- Ask your bank for the payment trace if LESCO cannot locate the transaction.
Paying close to the due date
Because posting takes time, pay a couple of days before the due date where possible. A payment made on the due date is treated as on time even if it shows up later, but keeping the receipt protects you if a late payment surcharge is added by mistake. Our payment methods guide compares banks, ATMs and wallets if you are choosing a channel.
Helpful tips
- Save a screenshot of every online payment with the transaction ID visible.
- Compare the arrears line on each new bill — it is the clearest sign a previous payment was received.
Warnings & common mistakes
- Do not pay the same bill twice just because it still shows unpaid on the same day. Wait for the posting time first.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check whether my LESCO bill is paid?
Look up the bill with your 14-digit reference number and check the payment details for the month. A posted payment shows the amount and date, and the next bill carries no arrears.
Why does my bill still show unpaid after I paid?
Payments take time to travel from the bank or wallet to LESCO. Most online and ATM payments appear within 24–48 working hours.
Can I check payment status by CNIC or name?
No. Bill records are linked to the reference number, so you need that number to see the payment status.
Will I be charged a late fee if my payment posts late?
A payment made by the due date counts as on time. If a surcharge is added because of a bank delay, a billing complaint with your receipt can get it reversed.
What proof should I keep?
Keep the transaction ID, SMS confirmation, ATM slip or stamped counterfoil until the next bill shows zero arrears.
