What a duplicate bill actually is
A duplicate bill is not a summary or a screenshot — it is the same document the meter reader delivers, regenerated as a PDF from the billing system. It carries the same reference number, the same barcode, the same amount and the same due date, which is why banks and payment counters accept it without question.
Duplicates exist because paper delivery is unreliable. Bills go missing in shared buildings, arrive late in rural subdivisions, or get discarded by mistake. Rather than waiting for a reprint from the subdivision office, you can download the identical document yourself in under a minute.
Download the PDF in three steps
Printing quality matters if you intend to pay over the counter. A faded or scaled-down barcode may not scan, and the cashier will then have to key in the reference number manually. Printing at 100% scale on plain A4 avoids that.
- Enter the reference number. Open the duplicate bill page and type the 14-digit reference number from any earlier bill.
- Generate the bill. Submit the form. The official PITC system returns the currently issued bill for that account as a printable document.
- Save or print. Use the download button to save the PDF, or press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) and print at A4 with margins set to default so the barcode stays scannable.
Paying with a duplicate bill
Whichever channel you use, keep the confirmation SMS or receipt until the payment shows as received on a fresh bill check. That receipt is your evidence if the payment is posted late.
- Bank apps — HBL, UBL, Meezan, Bank Alfalah and most others accept the reference number under Utility Bill Payment.
- ATMs — choose Bill Payment, select LESCO, enter the reference number and confirm the amount shown.
- Wallets — JazzCash and Easypaisa both support LESCO by reference number, in-app or at a retailer.
- Counters — any 1Link-enabled bank branch or authorised collection point will scan the barcode on the printout.
Common problems and fixes
- Blank or broken PDF — the source system was momentarily unavailable; retry after a few minutes.
- Old month shown — the new bill has not been issued yet; wait until two or three days after your reading date.
- Barcode will not scan — reprint at 100% scale rather than “fit to page”.
- Wrong name on the bill — the account is still in a previous owner's name; apply for change of name at your subdivision.
Helpful tips
- Save each month's PDF in a dated folder — twelve months of bills make any billing dispute much easier to argue.
- Register for SMS bill alerts so you know the moment a new bill is issued.
